Farewell Emmitt

As most of you know, Emmitt crossed the Rainbow Bridge a week ago. I just wanted to post a fond farewell, as we remember the good times we had with him. He brought such joy and awareness to all of us, in the beautiful work that his Mom made. Their Mother Bear project brings such joy to sweet children in Africa. My fondest memories of Emmitt are his parties. He made the best mini meatloaves. I know him and Stubby are enjoying unlimited meatloaves and Popeyes. Here are a few of my favorite pictures of him:

His Mom, Melissa, did a wonderful tribute picture slideshow of him. Please check it out, if you haven't already seen it. http://pugnotes.blogspot.com/2011/02/lets-celebrate-emmitt-together.html

Farewell Emmitt - I'll never forget you!

I'll Miss You STUBBY!

Dear Friends,

As most of you know, a dear friend of mine, Mr. Stubby, crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Friday. He spent the last several months of his life in pain, so I'm happy that he's in a place where he can run and play without feeling any pain. However, I'm very sad that he's no longer physically here with us. I'm going to miss his very educational blog posts, his mouth-watering Popeyes meals, and most importantly - his friendship. I sure did learn a lot from him. You can read about the great example he set in Salinger's blog post tribute. My heart breaks for his pawrents, because he was their only child, and I know they're hurting so much. But Stubby touched the lives of so many, which is very evident in his passing with all of those bloggers who have blogged a tribute post. I hope his pawrents read these posts and find comfort in knowing how much all of us care.

Here are a collection of pictures, of all the fun times I've had with Stubby.

I first met Stubby when him and his pawrents came to the Indy Pug Meet-Up in June 2009. The first picture is of Stubby and his Mom. The second picture is of Stubby, his Mom, me, my Mom, Salinger, and his Mom.

The next time Stubby and I hung-out was at his house this past summer.

This first picture is when we first got there, and we were plotting all the trouble we were going to get into during my visit.

Then Stubby gave me a tour of his yard.

Stubby showing me his favorite potty spot...

I was ready to take a break in the shade, but Stubby wanted to sunbathe.

I told him that instead of tanning, he was going to be shedding. Told you so!

Then it was time to plot our next move.

Stubby showed me his stuffies

Then Stubby went and sat with my Dad to catch the last bit of the game.

Then I gave Stubby the present I had for him. He went a little crazy for the foodables.

After all that exitement, Stubby and I started getting tired. And since Stubby was at the age where he took more frequent naps, he completely passed out, like snoring passed out.

The last time I spent time with Stubby was when he came to Indy Pug Meet-Up and the Pug Posse's After-Party for the Pug Blogger's Reunion this past October.

Even though the Meet-Up was pouring rain, it didn't dampen our spirits. Stubby's health was declining at this time, so he spent the time cuddled up with his pawrents while watching his younger Puggy friends frolick about.

At the Pug Posse's party, he kindly let his Dad give some head rubs my way.

Stubby - I love you buddy! You'll be missed! Enjoy the endless Popeyes on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge!

Love,
Apollo

Lazarus Update

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to do a quick post of an update on my foster brother, Lazarus. It's amazing how far he's come.

Lazarus has finally met his target weight – at 22.4 pounds! His tail is nice and fluffy. And he finally shows some personality. When he gets really happy, he’ll wag his tail so hard that his whole body moves, and he practically falls over. When he gets really excited, he’ll spin wildly in circles. He loves to chew on Flossies, play with stuffed animals (especially the silky ones with appendages), and steal my sock monkey bed. Not only has Laz learned how to sit nicely for a treat, but he’ll go over to where the treats are kept and sit and look up expectedly.

Lazarus has been neutered, is no longer anemic (he misses the liver and beans, but Mom and Dad don’t miss the gas!), but is still fighting a stubborn UTI. He has just started the heartworm treatment too. We were explicitly told that he has to be kept quiet and calm, but that it'd be easy to do so starting out, because he'd feel so crappy from the injections. Not! When he came home from the vet, he was so hyper! Even in his crate he'll spin around as fast as he can.

Laz has a long road to recovery still, but has made amazing progress thus far.

Coming soon will be a post on our winter wonderland...

Love,
Apollo

My New Foster Brother - Lazarus

Hi Friends,

I'm a couple weeks late on this, but...I have a new foster brother!

Meet Lazarus - this is what he looked like when he came into KPR (Kentuckiana Pug Rescue).

Lazarus was found lying on a driveway and thought to be dead. When the Animal Control Officer came to remove him, he detected life left and rushed him to Veterinary care. Lazarus clearly laid down on that driveway ready to give up and cross over to the Rainbow Bridge. He was so dirt encrusted and flea infested that his breed, color or coat was a mystery. Besides the obvious emaciation; he was also found to be heartworm positive, anemic, feces full of worms, UTI, etc. Since then he has gained quite a bit of much needed weight. Once the bacterial infections and hemoglobin level have improved, he will start the heartworm treatment. This will take about three months. During that time he will slowly receive his vaccinations, get neutered, and have a dental.
This will be a long and challenging road to recovery - expensive too. If anyone is interested in donating towards his care, you can do so by going to: http://www.kentuckianapugs.com/
or you can paypal your payment to email adress matt1128@bellsouth.net or mail in a check to KPR PO Box 22697 Louisville, KY 40252-0697.
He doesn't look or act like the same dog - what a difference having food in your belly makes! I'll post updated pictures and video soon!

Happy Birthday Mommy!

I would like to wish my Mommy a big Happy Birthday today! She is now 28 (I can say that since she says she's not old yet). My Daddy said she's sad and is having a crappy birthday, because her friends are fighting. So when she gets home from work, I'm going to offer her some of my favorite biscuits, give her lots of licks and sneezes, and try to not throw up any hairballs (I like to lick the carpet and rugs). I also want to give her some warm and fuzzies by sharing some of my fave pics of us.

Happy Birthday! I love you Mommy!

Blogger Party Weekend

Hey Guys,

So my Mom and I finally figured things out. Like the new header picture? So I think we're on a technology roll, because we managed to get all the pictures from this last weekend uploaded onto snapfish, a new online photo album thing that she signed up for. She took over 200 pictures! There were several that she ended up deleting, because they didn't turn out (weird lighting).

What an awesome weekend! Salinger and Pugsley finally tied the knot in a memorable ceremony performed by the Rev Sarah (Hank & Molly's Mom). We did a big play date in the park at Indy Pug Meet-Up. And we went to a big bash afterwards at the Pug Posse house. It was so wonderful meeting and spending time with all our out of state blogger buddies!!!

* I'm not able to do a whole big post about the weekend right now, but I want to at least get the web link on here so that people can view the pictures and save the ones they want.

* (Mom here) - These are edited links. The first time I posted with an invalid link (I thought I could just copy and paste the web link from my main page [thanks for the correction Punchy]. But I finally figured out how to generate a link for people to view the picture albums, although it has to be a separate link for each individual album. So hopefully this works now.

Need Technical Help

Sorry guys about not getting the new posts going. My Mommy is SO technically challenged! She keeps getting these error messages everytime she clicks on something.

Service Unavailable
Error 503

AND, she can't figure out how to shrink the title picture down. She's tried using different pics, but they all stretch out like this (yet they look fine as jpg in her picture folders).

She's spending so much time trying to figure all this out, that she hasn't had time to actually help me blog! And I'm no help since I don't have thumbs. *Sigh
